Director of Drayage-US

OVERVIEW

Leading freight forwarder and full-service supply chain fulfillment provider seeks experienced Director of Drayage  for U.S operations and teams. In this role, you will be responsible for creating procedures/polices to support and govern drayage related systems, functions, and processes, and implementing effective operational training and training methods throughout the organization and ensure all business requirements are met, while developing KPI reporting and providing “value-add” efficiencies to our operations.
This role can be remote or hybrid and reside anywhere in the US.


DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of negotiations while managing commercial and operational aspects for the drayage related activities within the Imports Team
  • Negotiate rates with the drayage carriers and other transportation providers, manage drayage capacities, establish KPI standards, and effectively communicate strategic approach and findings with company leaders
  • Plan and schedule appropriate service lines, maintain a cost effective balance between customer service and cost of delivery
  • Manage order entry, load planning, load scheduling and load monitoring
  • Identify logistics issues and implement appropriate resolutions
  • Work closely with CSR team to ensure service satisfaction
  • Analyze service failures/ issues and implements performance processes to enhance future service delivery
  • Negotiate contracts with drayage companies in order to optimize capacity and improve value to company and end customers
  • Manage all negotiations across over 100 vendors nationwide
  • Need to conduct regular analyses of market pricing, accessorial charges to prepare and execute negotiations
  • Prepare the sourcing plan and acquire additional capacities during the peak season
  • Perform regular sourcing projects' result evaluations to determine areas of improvement
  • Review price compilation charts and metrics to ensure new cost-saving opportunities to implement
  • Identify additional logistics partners and evaluate carriers to fit the business needs
  • Monitor market trends, competitive pricing strategies, and assist Sales/Operations through the creation and modeling of solutions
  • Establishing internal pricing requests and making recommendations to increase profitability
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 7+ years of Freight Forwarding operation or transportation/ logistics related relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3 years experience in transportation experience, preferably in a port or rail drayage environment
  • Transportation operational knowledge; CSA 2010, FMCSR, DOT 
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with systems Cargo Wise helpful
  • Experience in preparing and delivering training and coaching to operators
  • Results focused and a desire towards continuous improvement
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to interact and influence individuals at all organizational levels
  • Travel approximately 20%
