Global manufacturer seeks very specific kind of mechanical engineer - someone with stress & simulation experience to go along with both thermal and plastic molded experience - in particular. If you have this interesting combination of skills, read on!

  • Design Pressure Vessels and Mechanical Structures ensuring that these meet all applicable codes and regulations, including but not limited to ASME, National Board, AISC, and OSHA.
  • Pressure Vessel Design in accordance to ASME Section VIII Div. 1.
  • Perform Pressure Vessel Engineering Calculations for ASME and National Board approval as part of the certification process for the vessel.
  • Perform Engineering Process Calculations for designing and sizing internal sub-components such as heaters, cooling coils, fans, motors. Calculations include heating loads, cooling loads, and flow analyses.
  • Create layout, assembly, and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or Solid Works.
  • Create and develop solid model components and assemblies using Inventor and/or Solid Works.
  • Perform engineering hand calculations for stress, strain and deflection analysis.
  • Develop and carry out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of numerous structures, including pressure vessels, to ensure designs have acceptable safety margins and desired functional characteristics while optimizing their design for the most cost effective product.
  • Develop and carry out Thermal and Fluid Analysis, as well as CFD, for designing systems and evaluating their performance.
  • Work with customer specifications to create designs that meet functional, code, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all mechanical engineering designs have an acceptable design criteria, engineering judgment, and safety margins, to guarantee the integrity of the systems and ensure their safe and reliable operation.
  • Work and act as a Lead Mechanical Engineer liaison between company and suppliers to ensure their products meet the company’s requirements, integrate and interface satisfactorily with corresponding systems.
  • Supervise junior engineers, assign and check their work.
  • Create and develop project planning and schedules for projects.
  • Work closely with shop/field crew to address challenges, problems and/or to develop improvements to mechanical designs.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Pressure Vessel design and/or similar product
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial Engineering, or similar degree, from ABET accredited school.
  • Experience (or similar) with AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, Autodesk Simulation (FEA), Autodesk CFD, Mathcad.
  • Autoclave design experience.
  • Experience with Heat Transfer and Flow Analysis.   
  • Base Salary: 90k-115k
